Common Questions
Arrival Planning
Munich is the natural gateway to the Bavarian Alps and to bespoke European travel. For travellers from London or New York, reaching Grand Europa's curated programmes is straightforward — and we manage the entire journey from your arrival gate.
Direct scheduled services connect London and Munich throughout the week, especially from Heathrow, with Gatwick, City and Stansted options varying by season and carrier. Flight time is approximately 1 hour 50 minutes. For private aviation, Farnborough and Biggin Hill are common London departure points into Munich's General Aviation Terminal.
Grand Europa's chauffeur meets each guest at arrivals, at the gate where airport permissions allow, or at the aircraft door for private aviation handling. Central Munich hotels such as the Bayerischer Hof, Mandarin Oriental and Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski are usually around 35 to 45 minutes away once guests are in the vehicle.
New York travellers can reach Munich via direct scheduled services from JFK or Newark depending on the current airline timetable, with Lufthansa and United among the key carriers to check. Flight time is approximately 8 hours.
Eligible First and Business Class guests can use premium ground services and lounges at Munich Airport. For private aviation, Munich's General Aviation Terminal supports business aircraft handling with dedicated on-site agents and short transfer routes.
Munich rewards a brief 1 or 2 day stay before continuing into the Alps. Recommended options include a half-day at the Alte Pinakothek or Bavarian National Museum, dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant and a private old-town walk.
For guests interested in Alpine culture, the Alpine Museum on Praterinsel is a precise and understated stop: the cultural home of the German Alpine Club, with exhibitions on mountaineering, mountain fascination and Alpine history.
From Munich, Grand Europa coordinates onward travel by chauffeur to the Bavarian Alps in roughly 90 to 120 minutes, by private helicopter to selected Alpine destinations subject to weather and permissions, or by rail with VIP support through Switzerland.
UK and US travellers should allow time for Schengen border checks and EES biometric registration when entering Europe. Our Munich Airport EES guide explains the current process for non-EU guests.
